Emergency - First Response
Lack of or wrong efforts made in the initial stages of an emergency can be huge cost drivers. Time will be lost which may cause unnecessary exposure for the stakeholders.
HOL Maritime Services can provide experts with extensive experience in handling marine emergencies. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by telephone and email to advise to assist and protect the interests of our clients in any way we can.
We will as soon as appointed obtain relevant information and start the evaluation of the required emergency response during the first stages of an emergency such as grounding, collision, fire and vessels adrift, to enable our Clients to always be in a position to respond quickly and professionally in order to mitigate loss.
Some examples of the ways in which we can assist includes:
- Evaluation of the reponse requirements
- Evaluation and advice on salvage operations including methodology and the utilisation of crafts, equipment, and personnel
- Estimation of the exposure based on the first info obtained
- Hull Modelling
- Estimation of salvage costs

LOF – SCOPIC
When a LOF is awarded for a casualty, the Salvor is often invoking SCOPIC and at such time we have Special Casualty Representatives, Special H&M and Special Cargo Representatives with the necessary and required experience and qualifications to attend any typy of casualty.
Surveying
Our surveyors have extensive and diversified shipboard and land-based experience. HOL Maritime Services can, therefore, offer a wide range of surveys as listed below:
MARINE SURVEYING
- Hull damage surveys including a cost estimate for repairs
- Damage surveys of jetty structures including fenders including a cost estimate for repairs
- Crane incident investigations
- Pre-purchase surveys
- Complete hull and machinery surveys (machinery failures including propulsion engines, auxiliary machinery, generators pumps etc.
OWNERS REPRESENTATION AND SUPERINTENDENCY
HOL Maritime Services can provide Owner representation and superintendency. Some examples of how we can add value include:
- Repair and docking supervision
- Substitute technical and Marine superintendent visits including reporting

Wreck Removal

- Advice on the tendering process including preparation of the invitation to tender
- Bid evaluation and advice on the wreck removal plan including methodology, project management, risk management, pollution prevention, utilisation of crafts, equipment, and personnel

HOL Maritime Services has conducted a large number of casualty investigations.
Some examples of the ways in which we can add value include:
- Attend on-site and conduct the initial investigation of cause including onboard investigation, evidence collection and reporting with recommendations
- When travel is restricted we can assist remotely by conducting crew interviews utilising online conference tools and liaise with local representatives to guide them through collecting the relevant evidence
- We can analyse data retrieved from ECDIS, VDR and AIS to reconstruct ship incidents
